My assignment from Sunday was to work on the lean. I was hesitant to take on another "challenge" since I am still really trying to control what my hands and arms are doing. But I hit the 4 mile loop ready to give it a try. I did the warm up drills before but I hid behind the YMCA because you never know who is watching :)
I had to really focus on maintaining the lean. I found that unless I was thinking about it, I wasn't leaning. BUT when I did lean, I felt like I was running much more efficiently. In fact when I would glance at my garmin while doing a perfect lean, my pace per minute was about 15 to 20 seconds faster then without. So as Peg said on Sunday, there is "power in the lean!" I'm just hoping I can get to a point where I can lean to get that extra efficiency and maintain a conversation at the same time!!
Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought there is so much to think about that you can't talk and run at the same time!
How did the drills feel?
