Got my work cut out for me, is Boston really in my reach :|' Only time will tell.
Just was notified Boston has released it's new qualifying times for 2012 and beyond. Rather than me try and explain all the details, here is the link. http://www.baa.org/news-and-press/news-listing/2011/february/boston-athletic-association-announces-new-registration-process.aspx The reality is even if I do get a good time, the staggering of the enrollments may be my downfall, unless I really go fast. I am sure this GFR is going to help, but will it help that much. That is a lot to expect. Hey coach Kim, maybe I will have to do more speed work. We did the 5 drills, then what a workout today. Love speed though. If I could just go faster.
Miss Peg-
ReplyDeleteYou can SO do this. I don't even think doing the 5 or 10 minutes faster than your BQ time is unreasonable!! You are such a strong, consistent runner and I know all of these GFR techniques will push you to move even faster!
I think all you really need to do is probably what you are doing already. Consider our Wed. class your 4-5 mile speed/hill work. Then I would say take your mid-distance run and make that a tempo run. Then we'll aim to do the last part of our long distance runs your marathon race pace (aiming for sub-4 hour race pace).
BayShore doesn't stand a chance with you Peg :)
Peg, you can do this! You are fast and strong and GFR will help. Boston is within your reach. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteOh Peg that is a tough one! You are such a determined consistent runner I am sure you can get to 4:05 again (or even 4:00) with no problems. If that doesn't get you in to Boston, doesn't matter to me, in my eyes you qualified for Boston!
